Over the last few years many host country agencies have began to work in the development of gender and women's issues. For the last three years a rural women's conference sponsored by WID/GAD Panama has promoted such things as self esteem, women's health, family planning, legal issues, etc. In order to promote the sustainability of the national rural women's seminar, host country agencies must begin to work together to more efficiently utilize their resources. The Women in Development Committee would build a national team representing all agencies working in gender and women's development. The project would also help to sponsor the next rural women's seminar. As a result of this project, the host country agencies will have a team in which to work together organizing national and regional projects and the national women's seminar will become a sustainable project resulting in the development of rural women in Panama.
